Report: What a source has heard about Enzo Maresca's training sessions at Chelsea

The impact of Enzo Maresca at Chelsea since his summer arrival has been off the scale.

Enzo Maresca, 44, was appointed as the new Chelsea manager before the season started. It’s fair to say that the Italian head coach has exceeded all expectations so far.

There’s no doubt that Maresca was inheriting a talented Blues squad, but the way he’s knitted everything together on and off the pitch has been superb.

At this moment in time, the Blues sit second in the Premier League table after 15 gameweeks, plus they’re top of the Conference League group phase.

Maresca’s attention to detail has shocked one Chelsea source because the coach studies his own and opposition players to the nth degree.

Enzo Maresca impressing on the training pitches

The Athletic has released an article on Friday in which a source has shared what they’ve heard from an unnamed experienced player in the Chelsea squad.

Apparently, the unnamed Blues star raves about Maresca and thinks he’s the main reason behind the team’s success this season.

In addition, he’s said that the training sessions are of a high level under him. He’s tactically one of the best coaches he’s ever worked with.

Whatever Maresca is doing in training at Cobham, it’s clearly paying off when it comes to a matchday. Hopefully, the Blues can take this momentum from the first half of the season into the rest of the campaign.

Interestingly, Maresca has introduced specific training ground celebrations, which may be a reason why this group seems so united right now.

Enzo Maresca record at Chelsea

Now that Chelsea have spent a few months under Maresca’s watch, it’s encouraging to see both great performances and results.

Maresca’s style of play is certainly coming out in his Blues side, whether that’s in the league or cup competitions. It’s exciting to think how much better this young group can become with more time, too.

Here is a look at Maresca’s Chelsea record so far across all competitions:

The Chelsea fanbase will be trying not to get too carried away with such an impressive start, but we don’t blame them after a couple of really disappointing years beforehand.
