Axel Disasi aims cheeky dig at Chelsea teammate after Astana victory

Axel Disasi has aimed a cheeky dig at Chelsea teammate Pedro Neto after their 3-1 victory away at Astana in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday evening.

Enzo Maresca's side travelled eight hours to the capital of Kazakhstan and contested the league phase match in a sub-zero temperature of -10 degrees Celsius. The Chelsea boss named a youthful starting line-up with 18-year-old Josh Acheampong, 19-year-old Samuel Rak-Sakyi and 18-year-old Marc Guiu among those to brave the cold.

The latter opened the scoring for Chelsea after 15 minutes and their lead was doubled just minutes later courtesy of an own goal. Renato Veiga added a third before the break, although Astana did pull one back shortly after.

Both Disasi and Neto were among the more senior figures to start on Thursday night, and although Neto assisted Guiu's opener, that didn't stop his teammates sharing a joke on his post-match social media post. Disasi commented on Neto's Instagram photos : "Eight hours fly, no goal," which was followed by the face palm and laughing emojis.

Across all competitions this season, Neto has scored three goals and registered five assists following his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer. He has already matched last season's numbers in terms of goals, and is a little under halfway to matching last term's 11 assists.

Chelsea are second in the Premier League standings and four points behind Liverpool, although the Merseyside club do have a game in hand over their rivals. Elsewhere, they also lead the way at the top of the Conference League standings with five wins from their five games in Europe so far.

This weekend, Maresca's side host Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening. Then, next week, they will welcome Irish side Shamrock Rovers in the Conference League in a bid to make it six wins from six.
