Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend
Manchester United are currently sat down in 13th place in the Premier League and will be looking to rise up the table over the festive period under the guidance of new boss Ruben Amorim. He was picked as their replacement for Erik ten Hag last month and left Sporting Lisbon to take over at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are back in action this weekend in the Premier League with an away trip to the Etihad Stadium to face rivals Manchester City. In the meantime, here is a look at some of the latest news and rumours coming out of the club....
Target latest
According to a report by The Athletic, Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies doesn’t see United as an attractive proposition at this stage of his career. Top flight rivals Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have been mentioned as potential suitors for the Bundesliga star.
Davies, who is 24-years-old, has been on the books of his current club since joining them back in 2019 and has been a regular since his switch to Germany. Prior to his move to Europe, he rose up through the academy ranks at Vancouver Whitecaps and was a regular for the MLS outfit as a youngster before leaving Canada as a teenager.
His contract at Bayern Munich expires at the end of this season and he is yet to sign an extension. He is due to become a free agent in June 2025 as things stand and Vincent Kompany’s side risk losing him for nothing. The Canada international had this to say back in October: “As of now, my full focus is to stay healthy and to play the game with the club I'm with right now. I'm not focused on what's going on in the future. I'm just focusing on staying healthy and helping my team win. My team make me feel valued. The whole Bayern community make me feel valued. I see that each and every day."
Left-back update
United are interested in Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez and he is a ‘target’ ahead of the January window, according to TEAMtalk. The report also claims the Red Devils are admirers of Ben Chilwell, Alvaro Fernandez and Rayan Ait-Nouri as they look to bolster their ranks.
The 24-year-old is under contract until 2027 meaning Girona are under no pressure to sell him just yet and can wait for the right offer to come in for his services. He helped them reach the Champions League last term against the odds under Michel and they won’t want to lose him anytime soon.

Gutierrez played for Getafe before Real Madrid signed him. He then rose up through the ranks of the latter before he was allowed to move on back in 2022. If United were to sign him, he would boost their defensive ranks and provide competition for current options in his position like Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Tyrell Malacia.
Next month’s window gives Amorim the chance to bring in some players and put his own stamp on the squad. In the meantime, he will be looking to win some games over Christmas.
