Fans credit Enzo Maresca for brilliant‘tweak’that brought Enzo Fernandez back to his best

Enzo Fernandez has had a mixed season so far. The 23-year-old Chelseamidfielder was struggling for game time under Enzo Maresca. But this was the case only in the beginning of the season. Now, the central-midfield man has found his way back into the team. The Argentinian was captaining the side under previous head coach Mauricio Pochettino. But things would change upon Maresca’s arrival. Youngster Romeo Lavia, who had missed almost the entire last season, began to show his color this campaign. Coming at the back of an excellent pre-season, he would manage to bench the 2022 World Cup winner.

How did Enzo Fernandez find his form?

We all saw what the 23-year-old is capable of in the World Cup. We have to credit Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca for brining Enzo Fernandez back to life. The Italian would give him access to penetrate the box and go through with the attack. Earlier, he would only be in a position to receive the ball. But now he also gets to act as a carrier. This minor yet brilliant ‘tweak‘ allows him to dictate the tempo from the back. At the same time, he can also join the attack as and when needed. As a result, he is able to contribute to the team in a better way.

Enzo Fernandez crashing the box instead of already being positioned to receive the ball like a forward has played a huge role in his attacking returns.

Now he's able to both dictate the play from deep and go further up to join the attack. Kudos to Enzo Maresca for this tweak! pic.twitter.com/JuqG5Y6PO3

Interest from Barcelona

The Argentinian star has already managed to match his tally of goal contributions from the previous season. As per transfermarkt, he already has 10 G/A in 19 outings this campaign. Spanish giants Barcelonahave taken an interest in the midfielder. Apparently, they are willing to swap two of their players for the midfielder. They are ready to trade Frenkie De Jong and Ferran Torres for Enzo Fernandez. But it seems highly unlikely that the Blues would go ahead with the deal. Especially since the 23-year-old is also now back captaining the team.
