'Sometimes': Paul Merson predicts the scoreline when Liverpool host Fulham at Anfield tomorrow

Liverpool and Fulham prepare to lock horns tomorrow in what promises to be an intriguing game of football at Anfield.

The Reds are looking to make amends after their 3-3 draw against Newcastle United as their lead at the top of the table was cut to four points after Chelsea’s 4-2 over Tottenham Hotspur.

Fulham, on the other hand, got a well-deserved 1-1 draw against Arsenal to cap off one of the best results of their season so far.

And Paul Merson feels there will be a few goals tomorrow at Anfield as he predicted a win for the Reds.

Liverpool didn’t play last weekend as the Merseyside derby against Everton was called off due to the adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Darragh.

They were in action in midweek, though, as they booked their place in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 win against Girona.

Merson feels Liverpool didn’t play particularly well against Girona despite getting the win and also claimed that their game in hand over their other title contenders isn’t necessarily a good thing.

“I don’t think Liverpool played particularly well against Girona but they still won and that’s all that matters,” wrote Merson in his column for Sportskeeda.

“It’s a good sign for any team and it will be a huge boost for them too. If I’m Liverpool, I would have rather played the Merseyside derby last weekend though.

“In hindsight, it looks good because they have a game in hand and both Manchester City and Arsenal failed to win.”

The Arsenal icon, however, predicted a 3-1 win for Arne Slot’s side as he added that Fulham don’t have it in them to cause Liverpool problems at Anfield.

“But what everyone needs to understand is that the game in hand does not necessarily mean three points, sometimes we forget that. Someone has to stop this Liverpool juggernaut and we expect it to happen at some point this season.

“For now, they look in good shape. Liverpool win for me, I don’t think Fulham can trouble them too much here.”

Liverpool injury news ahead of Fulham

The likes of Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate and Kostas Tsimikas are slightly long-term absentees and will not be available for selection.

Alexis Mac Allister will also be unavailable as he’s suspended, but Liverpool will welcome back Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota as Slot confirmed that the pair are fully fit and available for selection.

Alisson Becker and Harvey Elliott both featured against Girona after recovering from their respective injury problems, so the Reds’ injury list has surely become smaller in recent days.
