Fernando Morientes, a legendary figure in [Real Madrid](https://www.managingmadrid.com)’s history, was in the spotlight today as part of the **LaLiga EA Sports X FC 25 Rush** event at Gamergy.
Before taking to the pitch, Morientes spoke to the media on Real Madrid’s current situation, Kylian Mbappé’s form, and his hopes for the La Liga season.
### **“Madridistas Can Rest Easy”**
“I’ve seen critical situations in December that have ended in a league trophy or [Champions League](https://www.sbnation.com/champions-league) trophy,” Morientes remarked. “Critical situations are in April—when the important things are at stake.
“At this time of year, it’s about fighting for everything. You can be third, second, first, but you can’t fall too far behind the leaders. And the same goes for the Champions League. This format allows you to recover even after a slow start.
“Madridistas can rest easy,”
### **On Mbappé: “The Best of Him Is Yet to Come”**
“He has 10 or 11 goals. I finished my first season with Real Madrid with 12 goals in total, and I was the team’s top scorer,” he said, putting Mbappé’s output into perspective. “Mbappé has spoiled us football consumers. We obviously expect the best from him, but the best of him is yet to come—it will come, for sure.”
### **Vision for La Liga**
“I’d like Madrid to be first and Valencia second,” Morientes said. “But as Valencia is suffering, I’d be happy if they were saved.”
