Club take disciplinary action with captain after Bowen and Lemina spat

Jarrod Bowen and Mario Lemina took part in a wrestling contest after West Ham United beat Wolves 2-1 on Monday night.

West Ham earned a vital three points against Wolves, but the feel-good feeling surrounding the London Stadium was marred by a clash between Jarrod Bowen and Mario Lemina.

Bowen spoke after the game and diffused talk about his clash with Lemina.

Instead, the Hammers skipper chose to talk about his side’s win, and he lifted the lid on the half-time team-talk amongst the players that turned everything around.

It was a vital win for West Ham in the end, but Julen Lopetegui is far from safe is his role as Hammers head coach.

The performance was still very poor indeed, and the match was remembered more for the scrap after the final whistle than anything else.

In the heat of the moment, players often clash with one another on the pitch.

However, Monday’s scuffle seemed a bit different.

It seemed impossible for anyone to actually calm Lemina down, even his long-time friend Jean-Clair Todibo failed.

The Wolves midfielder was even scrapping with his own teammates and coaches.

And as a result, the Black Country outfit have taken disciplinary action against the former Wolves midfielder.

Lemina has been dropped as the club captain of Wolves, with Nelson Semedo replacing him (Sky Sports).

That’s the correct decision from Wolves if you ask me.

It was a flagrant show of ill-discipline from someone who is supposed to be a leader.

Mario Lemina let Wolves down on Monday night, and as much as I still don’t think Jarrod Bowen is captain’s material, I do think we’ve got a really well-rounded skipper at the club.

I fully expect Bowen to hit a rich vein of form now and fire us up the table.
