Steidten’s Target | Brazil’s Top Scorer & Award Winner

Now that the transfer window is just a few weeks away, clubs are working feverishly upon their targets and priorities: none more so than West Ham United. The need for a new striker is now absolute with only Niclas Fullkrug a semi fit frontline Premier League-quality starter with Danny Ings now a faded back-up. No Antonio until next year certainly makes the squad wafer thin and in desperate need of re-inforcement.

One of the strikers West Ham have been linked with both this year and 18 months ago when an offer of £13 million was made and rejected is Yuri Alberto, Corinthian’s Brazilian number 9 who they rescued from Zenit St Petersburg at the start of the Ukraine war.

As if to underline Alberto’s quality, he has just been handed the award for being Brazil’s top scorer in 2024. Footballfancast.com reported a couple of days ago that Alberto was on West Ham’s radar – which we have known for months – and after 31 goals in league and cup games this season, he must be a frontrunner with a ‘sensible’ asking price probably around £20-25 million.

As the young man stated viafootbom.com in his own words:“It’s incredibly gratifying to reach this milestone and finish the year as the top scorer of the championship. This is the most special moment of my life. I have dreamed about all of this, and accomplishing something of this magnitude here at Corinthians is beyond words. I will never forget this year, 2024.”

He’s previously flirted with the Premier League and has been talking up his desire to play in England again. We can but hope that this is another Brazilian who gets onto Steidten’s private jet on a one-way trip in January.
