Arsenal will welcome Everton at the Emirates Stadium in a Premier League encounter this afternoon.
The Gunners are currently third in the league with 29 points from 15 games, sitting six points behind the league leaders Liverpool.
Mikel Arteta’s side will be coming into this game off the back of a comfortable 3-0 victory over AC Monaco in the Champions League. They only managed to come away with a 1-1 draw against Fulham last weekend so the victory in midweek will give them a big boost.
On the other hand, Everton’s last weekend’s game against Liverpool was called off due to weather issues so they haven’t played football for almost 10 days, therefore the Merseyside club will be fresh ahead of this game. Amid this time the hosts have played two games in as many different competitions.
They won their last Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 and as a result, they are currently 15th in the table with 14 points from as many games.
Team news
Arsenal won’t get the service of Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu for this game owing to injury problems. But, the good news is that Arteta has hinted Gabriel Magalhaes could be available after recovering from his issue.
Riccardo Calafiori may remain sidelined with his injury and there is a question mark about Oleksandr Zinchenko’s availability as well.
Predicted line-up
David Raya is set to continue in goal for the North London club, while William Saliba and Gabriel should be the centre-back partnership. In that case, Jakub Kiwior could commence in the left-back position and Jurrien Timber may return to his preferred right-back role. So, Myles Lewis-Skelly would have to settle for a place on the bench after starting in midweek.
Thomas Partey is expected to be in the deep-lying playmaker position and on either side of him, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard should start and complete the midfield trio. Therefore, Jorginho and Mikel Merino could feature off the bench.
Bukayo Saka would remain on the right and Leandro Trossard could be deployed on the left ahead of Gabriel Martinelli. Kai Havertz is set to lead the line by replacing Gabriel Jesus.
