Lennon Patterson name is lighting up transfer news as Arsenal take the 17-year-old Wolves left-back on trial.
Arsenal are in the market for reinforcements and are considering options all over the pitch as they look to add depth to their existing crop of players. To that tune, the Gunners currently have Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) left-back Lennon Patterson on trial at their Sobha Realty Training Centre.
The 17-year-old is highly-rated in Premier League circles and has gained interest from several clubs who have shown interest in signing him. He can play as a traditional left back as well as a left wing-back – two positions Arsenal use quite a lot in the way they are set up and how they attack.
The current injury crisis at the clubs has seen Myles Lewis-Skelly – a player who is way down the pecking order usually – start games. Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jurrien Timber, Kieran Tierney and Jakub Kiwior have all been on and off the treatment table of late and there has been great inconsistency in terms of being unable to have a fixed starter.

Seventeen-year-old Patterson has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs’ scouts over the last couple of seasons with his performances in the U18 Premier League. A pacey, intelligent and decisive player, he likes to be on the ball as much as possible and will look to drive forward into space on the flank whenever the opportunity arises.
With age heavily on his side at the moment, Patterson is looking for the next step in his career. He has been sidelined from the Wolves squad this season, making just four appearances in the U18 Premier League, playing a total of 358 minutes.

This is quite a big drop from the 16 games he played last season, which could make him and his camp reconsider staying on with Wolves. It is now up to Patterson himself to show the coaches at the Sobha Realty Training Centre whether he can make the step up and join the club.
