Having just got an in-depth look at the Manchester United squad for the first half of the campaign, Ruud van Nistelrooy is now hoping to use his ties to sanction some Reds’ arrivals at the King Power Stadium this January.
First on the list for the ex-interim Red Devils boss is Toby Collyer, with speculation suggesting Van Nistelrooy has eyed the 20-year-old as an up-and-coming, talented prospect to add to his ranks amidst Leicester City’s survival quest.
Such a move would also benefit United, as Collyer is yet to feature under Ruben Amorim, and it’s unlikely that he’ll play a prominent role throughout the remainder of the term. Spending five months on loan with the Foxes would provide him with some invaluable Premier League experience, which can then be put to use at Old Trafford after the summer.

As well as the youngster, Van Nistelrooy has reportedly shortlisted a more experienced head to reinforce his options at the back. According to TBR Football, Victor Lindelof, whom counterpart Harry Maguire hailed as ‘technically brilliant’, has emerged as a target for the Dutch coach
Lindelof, 30, has been limited to only seven appearances this season due to injury. Three of those outings came under Van Nistelrooy against PAOK, Chelsea and Leicester.
Ruben Amorim’s newly implemented back-three system, coupled with Leny Yoro’s return from the treatment room, means the centre-half is set to fall even further in the pecking order. He is also navigating his final six months as a United player ahead of his contract expiring next summer, with INEOS having no plans of extending Lindelof’s stay.
“We understand Lindelof could be looked at as a potential loan player, as even a slight loan fee and proportion of wages could be deemed a win for United at this stage. A long-term deal for Lindelof could, in theory, be offered – but would be tied to Leicester’s success in staying up, or not,” TBR Football’s report reads.
“Leicester already have two loan slots taken, but TBR Football is told that they are looking at sending Odsonne Edouard back to Crystal Palace in the New Year.”
