‘I could…’: Chris Sutton drops hilarious claim as he shares his Wolves vs Ipswich Town…

Wolves are ready to face Ipswich Town in a relegation six-pointer at Molineux with both sides level on the same number of points.

It’s inarguably the biggest game of the season for Wolves and Gary O’Neil as a four-point gap has already emerged between them and Crystal Palace in 17th.

Ahead of this crucial six-pointer, most of the headlines have been dominated by O’Neil, who is set to take charge for Ipswich despite recording three losses in a row.

Wolves have sounded out several O’Neil replacements, although neither of them – including former Chelsea boss Graham Potter – want to work under the Fosun regime.

So, it looks as though the fans are stuck with the Englishman, and they’ll be hoping to turn a huge corner this weekend.

Paul Merson thinks Wolves will beat Ipswich, and now Chris Sutton has issued his score prediction.

Chris Sutton predicts the scoreline of Wolves vs Ipswich

In his column for BBC Sport, Sutton mocked the Wolves defence that has conceded 38 goals this term and claimed even he could put one or two goals past O’Neil’s men.

Sutton, who was once a striker for the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City and Chelsea in the Premier League, wrote: “Do I think Wolves will score? Yes. Do I think Ipswich will score too? Probably, because everyone scores against Wolves.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

“I could come out of retirement and score against Wolves, that’s how bad their backline is. In fact, I actually think I would score more than one and I am 51.

“Wolves have got some talented players but, as I’ve said previously, you cannot concede the amount of goals they do and expect to stay in the Premier League.”

Despite criticising the Wolves back line, he has still predicted the hosts to secure a vital 2-1 victory. “Putting my Norwich loyalties to one side, anyone seeing my scores would think I had a soft spot for Ipswich, when in fact they are showing their soft centre,” Sutton added.

“So, I am going with Wolves here. I know Ipswich’s best results so far have come on the road, but I don’t think that will help them here.

“It won’t make any difference where they play if their goalkeeper, Arijanet Muric, keeps making terrible decisions.”

Wolves injury update ahead of Ipswich Town

In a pre-match conference on Friday which saw Mario Lemina get stripped of his captaincy and Nelson Semedo named as the new captain, O’Neil also provided an injury update.

It was positive news for one player, as O’Neil expects Boubacar Traore to be back by the end of the month.

Traore sustained an injury in August’s win over Burnley in the Carabao Cup, and the Malian has been recovering ever since.

While the 23-year-old being close to a return was good news for Wolves fans, Jose Sa is still unavailable after picking up a knock which saw him miss the defeat to West Ham.

Sa is joined by winger Pablo Sarabia, who will also miss out through injury ahead of the relegation six-pointer this afternoon.
