Liverpool are unlikely to sign Brighton forward Joao Pedro during the January transfer window, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking to LFC Transfer Room, Romano confirmed that the Reds are one of “several” teams who are interested in the Brazilian but any official bid may have to wait until the end of the season:
“Liverpool will be active on the market in 2025, so for sure they will be one club to watch; probably more in the summer transfer window than January, that’s the anticipation.”

“There are many links with Joao Pedro, Brighton forward who’s been doing excellent for [a] couple of years in Premier League; my understanding is that at this stage there’s still no concrete negotiations for Joao, no club-to-club approach.”
“Liverpool are just one of several clubs (more than three) closely monitoring Joao Pedro, who’s an excellent talent and could leave Brighton in July 2025; but I don’t anticipate any move in January and remember, it’s always difficult to negotiate with the Seagulls.”
Who would Liverpool have to compete with for the striker’s signature?
Reports in the Brazilian media believe that Manchester United are also keeping close tabs on Pedro while other sources have credited Arsenal with an interest.
There are likely to be a number of clubs on the continent who would be interested in purchasing a player of his profile as well.
Pedro won’t be available on the cheap
Rousing the Kop have recently revealed Pedro’s valuation. They claim that Brighton will only accept bids in the region of £100m for the 23-year-old.
At that price, you would expect Liverpool to explore other options. If they are going to spend that much on a new No.9, they would probably prefer to go after someone like Newcastle’s Alexander Isak instead.
