A football fan's 16-fold bet on the Champions League came good on Tuesday night
A football punter has turned 20p into a whopping £1,173.39 after pulling off a wild 16-leg multi-match bet builder.
The Paddy Power staker’s bold selections came during Tuesday night’s Champions League fixtures involving Aston Villa’s trip to RB Leipzig and Atalanta vs Real Madrid in the 8pm kick-offs. And nerves certainly would have been frayed during the closing stages of both games, as Villa and Los Blancos held on to clinch crucial 3-2 wins away from home.
While Villains boss Unai Emery relied on his bench, the audacious punter leaned on Paddy Power’s Super Sub offer. That kept his bet going even after his player selection was taken off, meaning the replacement substitute's impact could still see his bet come through.

In Leipzig, both teams to score and over 2.5 goals were easy bankers on the night, while John McGinn’s early opener hit a key score or assist market. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez played a crucial role too, making the 3+ saves required, while his opponent Peter Gulasci made 4+ saves in the opposing net.
But the real decider came courtesy of the Super Sub as Jhon Duran, came off the bench to score, completing an Ollie Watkins 2+ shots on target leg. Ross Barkley’s late winner also brought in a Youri Tielemans Shot on Target shout as the former Evertonian replaced the Belgian.

Over in Bergamo, Italy, things were more straightforward as Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham all got on the scoresheet, landing their Shots on Target legs for the punter. Meanwhile, Atalanta’s on-fire forward Ademola Lookman was a pest for Real Madrid defence all night.
His goal came from one of three shots on target to bring home the priciest leg of the bet, sealing an extraordinary return from a mere 20p.
