Stan Collymore predicts the score for Chelsea vs Brentford in the Premier League

Chelsea will be aiming to make it five consecutive league wins when they host Brentford on Sunday night.

Chelsea host local rivals Brentford tomorrow in the Premier League, which is a fixture they’ve struggled with in recent seasons.

Enzo Maresca’s side have won their last four league matches by beating Tottenham, Southampton, Aston Villa and Leicester City in a row. As a result, they’re up to second in the division table, with Premier League clubs viewing Chelsea as title contenders.

However, Brentford have beaten the Blues on their three previous trips to Stamford Bridge.

Stan Collymore predicts Chelsea vs Brentford

Stan Collymore has predicted Chelsea’s recent winning streak to continue when they play at home to Brentford this weekend.

“The Blues are looking for 3+ goals in four successive top-flight games for the first time in their history. The last time they did it three times was in 1954. Only Southampton have scored fewer on the road [this season] than Brentford. Chelsea 3-1 Brentford,” Collymore told talkSPORT (2:57pm, 13 December).

Similarly, Alan Shearer backs Chelsea to beat Brentford in the latest London derby.

In fairness, Thomas Frank’s Brentford side have found it extremely difficult on the road. In seven away matches in the league this season, the Bees have zero wins, one draw and six defeats.

It’s even more remarkable given the fact that Brentford at home are formidable, winning seven of their eight league games this term.

The race for the Premier League golden boot

Interestingly, four of the Premier League’s top seven goalscorers this season will be involved during the Chelsea versus Brentford showdown tomorrow night.

Here is a look at the current top scorers in the Premier League:

Player Club Goals

Mohamed Salah Liverpool 13

Erling Haaland Manchester City 13

Cole Palmer Chelsea 11

Chris Wood Nottingham Forest 10

Bryan Mbuemo Brentford 8

Yoane Wissa Brentford 8

Nicolas Jackson Chelsea 7

There’s certainly a real desire from Chelsea’s attackers to score goals this season. It’s why they’re such a free-scoring right now with so many different threats.

Maresca explained Chelsea’s Jackson was “sad” after beating Tottenham because he didn’t get on the scoresheet, which highlights the striker’s mentality. Therefore, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a reaction from him at home to Brentford.
