Barcelona Atletic has provided the first team with some great prospects over the years. It is the level right before the first team takes over and these players all aspire to reach that level some day. Unfortunately, however, there is always a limited number of places at Barcelona given the kind of competition at the club.
Yet, there are some players who manage to catch eyes and turn heads before they even make it to the highest level at the club. Two cousins in particular, at the moment, have shown that they possess that kind of special talent already.
Both Guille and Toni Fernandez have been instrumental for various Barcelona youth teams in recent seasons. Now a part of Albert Sanchez’s Barcelona Atletic side, both of them have shown that they have what it takes to make it far at the club.
Even in the most recent outing for Barcelona Atletic against Osasuna Promesas, Guille Fernandez showcased just how potent his versatility as a footballer is. As highlighted by SPORT, he was deployed as a ‘false 9’ for this particular game and his team ended up winning 2-1.
With other players injured and unavailable, Albert Sanchez gave Guille Fernandez his first start since November 6. Ultimately, he did not disappoint as the youngster spearheaded the attack alongside the likes of Noah Darvich and Raul Dacosta.
While he did not get to dominate the game due to the team’s more pragmatic approach, Fernandez made sure to leave his mark. Minutes before the half-time mark, the 16-year-old gem managed to catch a rebounded shot from Dacosta and struck it into the back of the net.
Even with that goal, his expression remained one of determination. Without any over the top celebration, he grabbed the ball and rushed it back to ensure that the game could restart as soon as possible. This level of professionalism and team play is exactly what puts such players above others in the grand scheme of things.
