Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong has confirmed that Victor Osimhen is a lifelong Chelsea fan, adding fuel to ongoing transfer speculations linking the Nigerian striker to the Premier League giants.
Osimhen, who was the subject of intense interest from top European clubs, including Chelsea, last summer, was closely watched by the Blues as they sought to bolster their attack.
Despite Chelsea’s efforts to bring Osimhen to Stamford Bridge, negotiations with the player fell through, and the forward ultimately made a surprise move to Galatasaray on loan for the remainder of the season.
Since his arrival in Istanbul, the 25-year-old has been nothing short of impressive, netting ten goals and providing five assists in just thirteen appearances across all competitions.
His stellar form has led to renewed speculation about his future, with Chelsea once again reportedly showing interest in signing him during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Troost-Ekong, however, may have given Chelsea a key advantage in the race to secure Osimhen’s signature, revealing the striker's long-standing admiration for the club.
"I can tell you that Victor Osimhen is a Chelsea fan, I can confirm it," Troost-Ekong said via a post on [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/share/p/CQwFvnTYSqCpGhTS/) by transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano.
Troost-Ekong went on to praise Osimhen’s qualities, describing him as a 'great teammate' and 'very greedy' in front of goal.
"He’s a great teammate, in front of the goal he can be very greedy, but he’s someone who speaks up for the team in the changing room, he’s a real leader and I’m sure he’ll be captain soon," Troost-Ekong added.
The confirmation of Osimhen's Chelsea allegiance could pave the way for a potential move at the end of the 2024-2025 season, as the Blues aim to strengthen their squad.
