Amad Diallo has quelled fears of a conflict with Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United star Amad has made it clear there is no bad blood between he and Rasmus Hojlund with a telling social media post following their bust-up in midweek.

Amad and Hojlund clashed after the final whistle following United's 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen on Thursday night, with both players unhappy that they failed to pass to each other in two separate counter-attacks in added time.

Television cameras picked up their tense discussion which quickly went viral on social media. But United head coach Ruben Amorim backed them following the confrontation, insisting he wants his players be passionate and question each other.

Ahead of Sunday's huge Manchester derby, Diallo has moved to quash concerns over the spat by uploading a picture of himself shaking hands with Hojlund complete with a heart emoji.

Hojlund was the hero on the night with an impressive double to lead United to their first away win in Europe since March 2023. His clash with Diallo came amid a difficult campaign that has seen United make their worst start to a Premier League season under previous boss Erik ten Hag.

But Amorim said he had no issue with the two arguing on the pitch and said it was important for his players to "feel something" - comparing it to squabbling with a family member. "For me it’s perfect," said Amorim. "We need to feel something. In this moment, we need to feel something.

"If we need to fight each other it’s like a family, so for me it’s a very, very good sign. We need to feel something and that's important. When you don’t care, you don’t do anything. When you care, you fight with your brother, with your father, with your mother.

"It’s a normal thing, it’s a positive thing, a healthy thing. I let the players and the captain calm down things and, if I think it’s too much I'll go inside the dressing room.

"But it’s their space, they have to talk, to fight and for me it’s a very important thing. I'm happy that we won the game and yet we still fight each other - that's a very good thing."

Both Amad and Hojlund will be hoping to feature against Manchester City on Sunday after catching the eye during the early weeks of Amorim's reign. United will be hoping to close the gap on the teams above them with a win ahead of a packed festive schedule.
