Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attends Premier League match to fuel fire over under-pressure boss

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been spotted at Molineux

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been seen at Molineux ahead of Wolves' huge fixture with Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.

The former Manchester United manager, 51, has been out of work since he was sacked by the Red Devils back in November 2021 but has been constantly linked with different roles in the Premier League since.

His presence at Wolves has sparked speculation on social media that he would be in line to succeed Gary O'Neil, who has seen scrutiny grown on him in recent weeks.

However, Solskjaer worked with Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna at Manchester United and it's likely he has travelled to Molineux to support his former colleague this weekend.

McKenna has flourished since branching out on his own at Portman Road, guiding Ipswich to successive promotions. They are still finding their feet since returning to the Premier League, though, and are currently level on points with Wolves in the relegation zone.

Solskjaer's presence at Molineux comes at a time where O'Neil finds himself under huge pressure.

He was expected to be sacked after losing a huge match against West Ham on Monday night in a fixture that was mischievously dubbed 'El Sackico' by fans on social media.

However, Wolves chairman Jeff Shi declared that O'Neil retains the backing of the club hierarchy ahead of this weekend's meeting with Ipswich.

"I remain grateful to Gary for stepping into such a demanding situation just days before the beginning of a new season [when he replaced Julen Lopetegui in August 2023], and for his commitment to the club every day since then," Shi wrote in the Wolverhampton Express & Star.

"While he knows that improving our results quickly is essential for everyone associated with the football club, we are united in supporting him as all of us strive to make that progress happen."
