Sandro Tonali has not requested transfer out of Newcastle: Report

Contrary to some rumors spreading on Italian outlets during the past few hours, Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali is reportedly not considering a transfer out of Tyneside during the upcoming January transfer window, according to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail.

Despite speculation from Italian media suggesting Tonali might be unhappy and open to rejoining AC Milan, the club he left in a £52 million move in 2023 to join the Magpies, the player’s agent also told insider Fabrizio Romano that the rumors are fabricated.

“He’s happy at Newcastle, happy to play in the best league in the world and he’s an idol for #NUFC fans who’ve always supported Sandro in every moment,” Tonali’s agent Giuseppe Risso told Romano.

According to Hope, Tonali is committed to Newcastle and is determined to repay the club’s faith in him during a challenging period in his career, including his recent betting charges.

The Magpies stood by the Italian international during his 10-month ban for illegal gambling, and he reportedly views this as something worth honoring.

Hope indicates that Tonali is likely to be reinstated to Eddie Howe’s starting XI for Newcastle’s upcoming Premier League and/or Carabao Cup matches as the gaffer doesn’t want the Italy international to lose confidence and wants to keep him active and happy.
