Chelsea’s recruiters are looking at a Champions League star as a potential transfer target for 2025.
In general, Chelsea is a club moving in an upwards trajectory as the vision of the Blues owners slowly clicks into place.
There’s no doubt that Enzo Maresca’s appointment as the Chelsea manager in the summer has helped speed along the process. So far, he’s managed to help knit together a talented young squad, who went into this weekend sitting second in the Premier League table.
One Chelsea source claims Maresca is always working out of hours, so it’s great to see his hard work is paying off.

Chelsea interested in Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel
According to Sky Sports Germany, Chelsea are not happy with their goalkeeper situation. As a result, the Blues are now looking across the market for potential alternatives in the problem position.
It is understood that Borussia Dortmund star Gregor Kobel, 27, is a potential candidate for Chelsea next summer.
The report says that the Blues have made occasional exchanges with the Bundesliga club, but there’s been nothing more serious than that. As it stands, Dortmund goalkeeper Kobel isn’t thinking about leaving the Champions League outfit, where he’s still under contract until 2028.
In addition, Chelsea also like Dortmund teammate Karim Adeyemi, who’s an exciting 22-year-old attacker.

Kobel has developed into a top-class keeper since his move to Dortmund in 2021. In 135 appearances for the German side, he’s kept 46 clean sheets.
Edin Terzic, the former Dortmund boss, described Kobel as an “outstanding goalkeeper” back in 2022 via BVB Buzz. It would be interesting to see the Switzerland international play in the Premier League for the first time in his career, but it sounds like signing him would be a tough ask.
Chelsea’s goalkeeper situation
As it stands, Robert Sanchez retains the position as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper. However, you can make a good argument for Filip Jorgensen replacing him as the first-choice option in net.
Jamie O’Hara called Sanchez a “massive problem” for Chelsea in their starting XI right now.
While Sanchez is capable of the spectacular in moments, he’s too inconsistent with the ball at his feet, which is a big thing in the current system.
The logical thing would be to give Jorgensen a proper run in the side from now until next summer before deciding if they need to splash the cash on yet another new goalkeeper.
