Report: Leicester player ratings vs Newcastle United revealed

Ruud van Nistelrooy tasted defeat for the first time as Leicester City boss as the Foxes were beaten by Newcastle United.

Jacob Murphy opened the scoring for the hosts after a dominant half-hour that saw Mads Hermansen called into action several times.

Leicester fans thought Bruno Guimaraes should’ve been sent off in the first half and he doubled the hosts’ lead before Alexander Isak made it three just minutes later.

Murphy added his second of the game on the hour mark to condemn the Foxes to a terrible day out.

It was a drab second-half showing from the East Midlanders who also had to deal with losing star ‘keeper Hermansen in the first half.

There was a variety of performances from Leicester’s first-team and Leicester City Newsranked how each player fared at St James’ Park

Mads Hermansen – 6

Made some strong saves in goal during the first half but couldn’t keep out Jacob Murphy’s strike before having to be withdrawn at half time.

James Justin – 5

The right-hand side of Leicester’s defence has been a huge problem this season and once again, it looked very weak.

Barely got forward and struggled defensively too.

Conor Coady– 5

The Conor Coady Leicester fans witnessed pre-Van Nistelrooy was in full show in the second half after helping to

Jannik Vestergaard – 6

Battled incredibly well in the first half but lost his way and was part of a defence that completely folded and allowed Isak to bully him and the rest of the back four.

Victor Kristiansen – 4

A torrid afternoon for the full back who was torn apart by Jacob Murphy. Gave his opposition number far too much respect and was caught out of position far too often.

Hamza Choudhury– 4

A first Premier League start of the season and hard to imagine he will be getting another one any time soon.

Looked nervous and whenever trying to pass forward, would just give the ball away.

Was hooked just before the hour mark and looked a yard off the pace in comparison to his teammates.

Oliver Skipp – 5

Booked early in the first half which restricted him from being as aggressive as he usually is. Wasn’t spectacular, but wasn’t the worst for the Foxes and will almost certainly drop out the side when the regular options are back.

Kasey McAteer – 6

Had little moments here and there but nothing that made him stand out. Looked sharper in the second half and had two or three half chances, but will feel he could’ve done more.

Bilal El Khannouss – 7

Once again, the young Moroccan was a rare bright spark in a forgettable afternoon for Leicester. Whenever he got the ball he’d always look forward and try to create something, it’s just a shame his teammates wouldn’t respond to it.

Stephy Mavididi – 5

Was rewarded with a start and didn’t take his chance. Saw a lot of the ball but did nothing of note with it and was rightfully subbed.

Jamie Vardy– 5

Can hardly recall him touching the ball throughout the game. Had very little service and even when he did, couldn’t conjure up anything of note.
