Everton vs Manchester City: Possible Line-ups
The possible line-ups are derived from previous match days. We take into consideration how strong the opponents are, what players are injured and of course team news before the match.
Team News Everton
Brian Sørensen provided an update on his squad: Issy Hobson is following concussion protocol and is getting better. Karen Holmgaard returned to training and there are no new injuries.
What the coach has to say:
Sørensen said his players are doing everything they can and that the togetherness is really strong. However, the head coach definitely wants to end the year on a high: “We will try to see if we can finish off for Christmas with a good result. Despite the injuries they [Manchester City] have, they are playing really well at the moment. Their positional play is second to none, so we will have to be super sharp.
“We have the plan, it is there. I still think if we had not had injuries with big personnel, we would have been doing a lot better. Our issue has been that we do not have the next in line. I am focused on what we can control and am happy with the players we do have.”

Team News Manchester City
Gareth Taylor lost Alex Greenwood in the match against St. Pölten in the Women’s Champions League. The captain had a scan on the injured area. On the other injured players ahead of the match against Everton, the head coach said:
“Yes definitely, especially Jill (Roord). There was an option to use her last night (UWCL), but we really didn’t want to. Effectively we didn’t have to in the end which is good for her and gives us a little more at the weekend with two games coming up. Chloe (Kelly) trained today and looked good. All being well comes through tomorrow unscathed and I think that’s an option for us on the weekend.”
“Naomi (Layzell) and Laura Coombs both trained today. If they can get through tomorrow and tick off the bits, they need to do they will help us with options for the weekend. In a sense, even missing Alex from last night, we probably look stronger on the weekend.”
Bunny Shaw has a lower leg issue, and she is still being assessed: “It just needs a sense of more investigation, that’s all. It’s not the knee; it’s working down the lower end near the foot. That’s as far as I know.”
What the coach has to say:
Manchester City knows Chelsea lost points against Leicester City this weekend so it’s a must win for Taylor and his side. That would bring the gap down to three points instead of five. The head coach said the following about facing Everton:
“They are always tight and compact at home. We’ve normally gone there and done well got a stranglehold on the game. They are suffering a bit but they did draw with Arsenal earlier in the season. They’re more than capable. For us it’s about being prepared for this game and said last night i never normally look past a game, but with Everton I had an eye on Sunday as it’s super important for us.”
