Arsenal dropped more points in their quest to become Premier League champions with a drab 0-0 draw against Everton at Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners got off to a decent start and could have been in front through Martin Odegaard, but ultimately played out what was a turgid first half. The display was only made worse by news that Liverpool were losing and down to 10 men against Fulham.
They rallied in the second half and kept the pressure on. Ultimately though they created very little as Mikel Arteta decided to take off Martin Odegaard before the hour mark. You can see how **football.london** rated the Arsenal players individually in our player ratings below.
**David Raya:** Stayed focused despite having very little to do. Swept well. A by-stander for much of the game as his teammates failed to break Everton down. **6.**
**Jurrien Timber:** Got forward a bit down the right hand side but not really enough to cause regular problems. Defended well when needed but that was rare. **6.**
**William Saliba:** Confident and assured whenever Everton did manage to make it into the Arsenal half. That wasn't very often. **7.**
**Gabriel:** One superb covering tackle in the first half to stop Doucoure. Defended Broja well in the second half on the rare occasions he got forward. **7.**
**Myles Lewis-Skelly:** A superb display on his first Premier League start. One of the few bright lights in a low quality first half. His tendency to pop up all over the park brought back memories of Zinchenko in his pomp. **8.**
**Declan Rice:** Sprayed the ball around nicely from the deeper starting position. Couldn't be as influential as he would have liked in that role though. **6.**
**Martin Odegaard:** Not one of his better games. Should have put Arsenal ahead with his big chance in the first half and didn't create an awful lot. Still a surprise to see him go off early in the second half though. **5.**
**Mikel Merino:** Still looks as though he's figuring out what his role is in this Arsenal team. Didn't do enough in the build up and didn't get into the box enough either. **6.**
**Bukayo Saka:** On a day where Arsenal needed star quality he was a little too quiet. Set piece delivery was decent but not enough from open play. **6.**
**Kai Havertz:** One superb ball to Saka to create Odegaard's first half chance. A little quiet aside from that and caught on his heels when played through in the second half. **6.**
**Gabriel Martinelli:** Should be cooking against a 39-year-old Ashley Young. Barely got up to a simmer. End product remains an issue for the Brazilian who is not doing enough at the moment. **5.**
**SUBSTITUTES -**
**Jorginho:** A surprising change given Arsenal were chasing the game. Did Arsenal need the Italian to come on given the game state? He was fine, but an odd choice. **6.**
**Ethan Nwaneri:** A huge call by Arteta to bring Odegaard off for the 17-year-old. He struggled to impact the game enough to justify his manager's faith. **6.**
**Gabriel Jesus:** Brought on to give Arsenal the attacking thrust they were lacking. Did very little. Hard to remember him having a meaningful impact off the bench. **5.**
**Thomas Partey:** The decision not to give him a penalty was the right one. A strange call to switch the full backs and put Timber on the left. Didn't do much after coming on. **6.**
**Leandro Trossard:** Didn't offer enough after coming down the left. A few decent crosses but more was required. **6.**
