Report: Leicester boss provides huge update on Leicester's star player

Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed why Mads Hermansen was substituted at half time in Leicester City’s heavy defeat against Newcastle United.

Hermansen started in goal for the Foxes at St James’ Park and appeared to show no signs of any injury/illness but as the teams came out for the second 45, Danny Ward was subbed on in the Dane’s place.

Leicester then went on to concede another three goals in the second half, with supporters left baffled by the decision to withdraw the number one.

After the game, Van Nistelrooy provided an update on why Hermansen was replaced.

Ruud van Nistelrooy reveals why Mads Hermansen was subbed at half time in Leicester City defeat

Speaking to the media after the game, the Leicester boss revealed that Hermansen had to be subbed due to an injury and that he would be assessed ahead of next weekend’s game against Wolves.

He said: “When Mads comes off, then it’s an injury. He felt a pain in the groin, so he couldn’t continue. We have to assess what it’s like.

“He was just certain he couldn’t continue the game. He didn’t want to make it worse. We have to assess. Hopefully it’s not too much. But of course, he doesn’t come off like that.”

Who will replace Mads Hermanesen?

Replacing Leicester’s number one will prove to be a near-impossible task for the Foxes.

Daniel Iversen hasn’t featured all season either and is unlikely to be called upon at any point.

That leaves today’s replacement for the game, Danny Ward, as the only viable option and given his performance against Newcastle, fans may fear the worst if Hermansen is out for an extended period.
