**Was it a penalty?**
I haven’t seen it so I cannot comment.
**Thoughts on the game?**
I feel very disappointed not to win the game. Obviously there was only one team who deserves to win - which is Arsenal. We did gave nothing away, not shots conceded, we dominated their play, didn’t allow them to run, no set pieces, high press excellent. We generated the chances.
But in the last 20 meters we were missing to score goals - which is what you have to do with all the dominance because we have never been able to dominate it that way. At the end you have to generate the highest possible winning probability. We certainly did that. At the end if you draw the game you always want more. We want more. But I cannot ask much more from the boys apart from putting the ball in the net.
**Can you talk us through the subs**
With Declan I had to take him off because he was feeling something. With Martin it was a tactical decision to try to change their rhythm on that side.
**So it wasn’t an injury with Martin?**
No.
**Were the players aware of the Liverpool score at half time?**
I don’t know. I wasn’t so I don’t know.
**Does it feel like even more of a disappointment having seen the Liverpool score now?**
Very disappointed. When you do what we’ve done against them today, you have to win the game. At the end this is football - the hardest thing is to do what we have to do in those last 20-25 meters. Credit to them as well, the way they defended, the way they blocked shots, the saves that Pickford made, the shape that they defend with. Honestly it’s difficult to ask something else from the team.
OK, individually can we do things a bit better and with a little bit more quality and deliver that magic moment when it’s necessary? Yes. But that is not easy.
**Are those magic moments coachable?**
That’s difficult. At the end you need a spark and you need to be precise. We had the chances and this could have been two or three-nil, and \[then\] nobody is talking about it. The reality is 0-0 and they are not going to talk about all the incredible things the team did in the game. When I see my team track back it is unbelievable. Every three days, 70 metres. Very difficult to ask them something else because they want it.
**There were moments when you seemed to demanding more from the fans behind you...**
We have to manage the frustration and the time. If we start to speed up the game but there is no room to speed it up, we start to rush the game. We need to understand that, if we start to force and make mistakes… we have to stay very far away from that game.
**Do you mean the fans need to understand that too?**
No, no. I cannot ask the fans to understand, I am telling you my feelings.
**Some people were probably surprised by Odegaard substitution?**
I understand. If Ethan comes in and he scores a goal, it’s a great substitution. If he doesn’t, you have taken your captain out. That’s football.
**How did Martin react?**
The same reaction as Martinelli and everybody. I am sure they wanted to play 90 minutes but that is why we have the subs, to try to help the team.
**What is the Rice issue?**
He has been with a little niggle for the last week or so. He asked to be subbed in that moment, so we have to do it.
**No open play goals for three games in the league...**
In the Premier League. We scored three from open play three days ago.
**Are you worried it will continue?**
It won’t continue, we will score goals. If we have the chances like we had today again, I am sure we will score. The problem is that we didn’t.
**Lewis-Skelly — what are your plans for developing him?**
Give him chances and if he keeps grabbing them, like the way he has done today again because I think he was really good, he will continue to have chances because he deserves that.
