Arsenal dealt‘very disappointing’title blow by Everton

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta felt his side “fully deserved” to beat Everton after being held to a scoreless draw at home in the Premier League.

The Gunners’ set-piece prowess was nullified by Sean Dyche’s troops as the hosts failed to breach Jordan Pickford’s net despite taking 13 shots to the visitor’s two.

“Very disappointing not to win the game. We fully deserved to win the game,” he told Sky Sports.

“We conceded no shots. We dominated play. When we generated big chances we didn’t score a goal.”

Arteta – Arsenal starlet ‘has proven he can compete’ in the Premier League

Arteta refused to pin any of the blame on Arsenal having a shorter rest period between games than Everton. His side have played twice since the Merseyside outfit last took to the field after last weekend’s meeting with Liverpool was postponed.

“No, it doesn’t matter,” he insisted. “Look at the intensity of what we generated in the second half.

“[Frustrating] especially when we concede zero [chances] and dominate the game so much.”

The result means Arsenal missed a golden opportunity to close the gap to Liverpool after the Reds were held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham at Anfield on Saturday. The north London outfit remain six points off the Premier League leaders having played a game more.
