Finding a spot in this current FC Barcelona team is something that can be quite difficult to accomplish. Despite the fact that there are many talented and eager players aspiring to do exactly that at the Catalan club, the success rate can be rather low. However, the entire point of being at Barcelona means to be as competitive as possible.
Still, it is a long road for any player to accomplish, much less someone who has had to constantly recover and suffer from various injuries and setbacks. Such a player would be 22-year-old forward Ansu Fati, who is yet to re-emerge as the player that he once was.
Regarded as one of the world’s brightest young talents at one point, Fati has since seen his prominence decline due to consistent injuries that kept him sidelined for huge portions of various seasons. Even right now, the youngster has only just return from his latest injury but will reportedly have the medical green light for the game against Leganes.
According to SPORT, however, Fati’s return marks his chance to take on some new challenges up ahead. With not a lot of impact in games to back him up, the youngster has a tall hurdle in front of him if he wants to find his way back into being a team regular.
So far this season, he has only been used by Hansi Flick in seven games and has started only once. Having had barely any minutes to showcase what he has to offer, Fati must now do whatever it takes to turn things around this season.
There are already talks of him possibly being allowed to leave in January, and it could possibly be for a new loan deal. However, given his young age, the Spaniard has a lot of years left ahead of him to turn his situation around and find his best version again.
While the competition at Barcelona is understandably tough and the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal will not be easy to overtake, Fati is still someone who will want to rise to the occasion. Having inherited something rather special from Lionel Messi in the past, the young forward can not let this chance slip away.

Interestingly, however, history could be in his favor. The last time Barcelona faced Leganes was back in 2020, and Ansu Fati was one of the two players who scored in that game which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Catalan giants. Coincidentally, Lionel Messi was the other player to grab a goal in that game.
