Evangelos Marinakis’ hilarious reaction to Nottingham Forest's late winner vs Aston Villa

Nottingham Forest came back to dramatically beat Aston Villa 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday, producing an incredible reaction from Evangelos Marinakis.

Forest beat Villa thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Anthony Elanga, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side rising up into the Champions League places.

Jhon Duran gave Villa the lead in the second half, but goals from Nikola Milenkovic and Elanga showed that the Forest squad have an immense fighting spirit this season.

Nowhere was this fighting spirit more apparent than in the Forest owner’s box though, as Marinakis produced a hilariously relatable reaction to Elanga’s dramatic winner.

Evangelos Marinakis smashes TV after Nottingham Forest win

The City Ground erupted as Elliot Anderson squared to Elanga for a memorable 93rd-minute winner but nowhere reacted more vivaciously than in Marinakis’ personal box.

Stan Collymore doubted Forest’s European credentials in the buildup, but the stats, along with Marinakis’ reaction, highlight that Forest’s performance against Villa was not a fluke.

Stats show that Nottingham Forest deserved their victory

In the match, Forest had 1.65 expected goals, far more than the 0.44 that Villa produced. They also had 17 shots with eight on target, four times more than Villa’s two shots on target.

Remarkably, Forest also dominated in the set piece department, winning four corners and plenty of deep free kicks that yielded an xG of 1.11 from set plays.

Clearly, then, Elanga’s late goal for Forest can be seen as fully deserved, given that Espirito Santo’s side dominated one of the Premier League’s top sides in the last 18 months.

If the Forest manager can keep producing these results from his side, they will continue to rise in their battle for Europe, likely causing more and more damage to TVs in Marinakis’ box.
