£42m Brazilian star 'already negotiating' with United, 100% ready to take next step - report

Manchester United are already in contact with one of Brighton & Hove Albion’s best performers this season, according to Brazilian outlet Trivela.

The Red Devils are likely to strengthen their squad next year. Manager Ruben Amorim is likely to demand players, who could suit his playing style.

A new attacker could be one of the priorities and Trivela claim that Brighton’s Joao Pedro is ‘already negotiating’ with United over a summer transfer.

The Brazil international is ‘100 percent’ prepared to make the next step in his career. United are likely to face competition from Liverpool for his services.

Pedro’s versatility would suit the Red Devils

The 23-year-old joined the Seagulls from Watford in the summer of 2023 and he had a good debut season with 20 goals and three assists to his name.

Pedro has struggled with injuries in the ongoing campaign, but he has still impressed for the South Coast outfit with four goals and three assists in the league.

The Fluminense graduate has predominantly played as a striker in his career, but he has also been successful from the left wing and the number 10 role.

In our view, his versatility in the final third could be a reason behind United’s interest. Amorim could see Pedro as an inverted forward or a striker in his 3-4-2-1 formation.

United could still find it hard to land his signature from Brighton. Pedro will have three more years left on his contract next summer. The Seagulls are in a strong position to negotiate.

He is valued at £42 million by Transfermarkt, but knowing Brighton’s tough negotiation skills, United could be asked to pay £70m to sign the forward.

United are aiming to spend with more caution under INEOS and we simply don’t see the prospect of Pedro making the switch to Old Trafford next summer.
