Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz has opened up about the team’s frustrations following their 0-0 draw against Everton at the Emirates Stadium. Despite dominating possession and limiting Everton to no shots on target, the Gunners were unable to find the breakthrough, leaving them to settle for just a point in a game they fully expected to win.
Speaking to Arsenal Media after the match, Havertz admitted, “It’s very frustrating. I think we controlled the game very well and didn’t allow them any chances. We didn’t manage to score, and of course, that’s frustrating because we wanted to win the game.”
The German international highlighted Everton’s defensive discipline as a significant challenge Arsenal faced throughout the encounter. “They are a tough team to break down. They are very solid in the box,” Havertz explained.

Reflecting on Arsenal’s shortcomings in the attacking third, Havertz noted that the finer details made all the difference. “Just the little details in the box, we didn’t manage to do them. We didn’t find the final pass. Sometimes I think the positioning in the box wasn’t perfect, so we have to look at that and make it better next game.”
The match saw Arsenal dominate possession and create better chances, with a higher xG (expected goals) of 1.42 compared to Everton’s 0.17. However, poor finishing and a resilient defensive display from the visitors left the Gunners frustrated in their attempts to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Despite the draw, Arsenal remain in third place on the Premier League table, six points off the top. Havertz’s comments underline the need for Arsenal to be more clinical and cohesive in the final third as they approach the busy festive schedule.
Next up for the Gunners is a Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium, providing Arteta’s men with an opportunity to respond positively and regain momentum. Havertz and the team will undoubtedly look to address the issues he outlined as they aim to return to winning ways.
