Ange Postecoglou has provided the latest on Tottenham’s injury crisis.
Tottenham have received some much needed good news on the injury front having been hit with blow after blow over recent weeks. Spurs have struggled to find any sort of consistency this season, with pressure building on Ange Postecoglou, but the struggles have come in the context of a severe injury crisis.
It’s a game Spurs need to win as they look to keep in touch with the European spots, currently 11th and five points off fifth place. For the trip South, Spurs won’t get any of those defenders back, but there is some good news in that Ben Davies’ injury blow is not as bad as first thought, with the Welshman having had the necessary scans this week.
"Ben is not as bad as first thought," said Postecoglou. "There is a chance he could be back hopefully before the new year so that was positive again. Initially, we were a bit worried, but again you need a week for it to settle down, and the latest information I got this morning was that it's nowhere near as bad as we might have thought it was and hopefully a quicker turnaround for him."
Elsewhere, Spurs have been without starting centre-backs Van de Ven and Romero, whose situations are less clear. "We probably won't get clarity until next week,” Postecoglou added. “When guys get injured, without getting too technical, you need to let the injuries settle down before you get the real prognosis, and that will probably be some time next week with Micky and Cristian. Everyone got through last night, they're all good to go. Biss (Bissouma) is suspended this weekend, so he'll miss out. Everyone else is okay, as it stands."
