Botafogo could offer Igor Jesus to West Ham in an attempt to sign Lucas Paqueta, according to the Sun on Sunday.

The newspaper reported on 15 December (page 53) that the Brazilian outfit could include the “exciting” striker in a deal for the 27-year-old after being linked to the London Stadium in the past.

The Hammers are looking for a new striker to cover for the loss of Michail Antonio to injury and would be keen on a swap deal.

A deal won’t be so simple as the Brazil international wants to return to Flamengo if possible which would leave the Irons in the market for a replacement and a new striker option.

West Ham could agree swap deal for Lucas Paqueta

The attacking midfielder has had a difficult campaign so far, becoming a regular substitute option in recent weeks under Julen Lopetegui.

This has seen Carlos Soler utilised in the side ahead of the Brazilian and as a result, could see him force a move away in the upcoming January window.

Given the quality that Paqueta does possess it would certainly be a blow to lose him but it could represent a positive in a swap deal.

If the ex-Lyon man is keen on a move away from East London then having Igor Jesus move the other way could help solve a problem for the Hammers.

In recent years, the striker position has been a difficult one to fill and even after signing Germany international Niclas Fullkrug, there is still no one in that role who guarantees goals at the London Stadium.

It remains unclear whether the attacking midfielder would be willing to help a swap deal go through but the Irons may look to push him in that direction.

In other West Ham news, a report has shared if Thomas Frank would prefer the West Ham or Tottenham job.
