It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Leicester City as they were allowed to keep one record intact thanks to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
The Foxes were beaten 4-0 by Newcastle United on Saturday as Ruud van Nistelrooy was beaten for the first time as Leicester boss.
Leicester fans felt Bruno Guimaraes should’ve been sent off in the first half but that wouldn’t have made a difference as they went in 1-0 down thanks to Jacob Murphy’s strike.
Van Nistelrooy confirmed Mads Hermansen had suffered a groin injury during the game which was the reason why Danny Ward was introduced for the second half.
It went from bad to worse for the East Midlanders as Newcastle scored three goals without reply to inflict a heavy defeat on the Foxes.
But, for all the negativity around the defeat, both Jamie Vardy and Van Nistelrooy will be happy to see that Salah also had a bad day at the office.

Mohamed Salah blank means Jamie Vardy record remains intact for now
It was a quiet night at the office for Vardy, who struggled to get into the game at St James’ Park.
After scoring in both of the previous two games he drew blank today, meaning his tally stays on six.

Elsewhere, Salah was in action for Liverpool and in a red-hot run of form, was looking to make it seven Premier League games in a row with a goal.
But, the Egyptian was unable to get on the scoresheet as Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw against Fulham, meaning that Salah can no longer equal, or break Vardy’s record of scoring in 11 consecutive league games.
Mo Salah failed to score today against Fulham so his streak ends with 7 consecutive goals.

It also means that Salah couldn’t overtake Van Nistelrooy, who sits behind Vardy in the charts with 10 and that another record remains for another day.
Jamie Vardy struggles as Leicester capitulate against Newcastle
Aside from Bilal El Khannouss, who was hailed by Leicester fans for his display, nobody in the side particularly impressed.
Vardy was one of those who failed to set the world alight during the game and was substituted for Patson Daka on the hour mark.

Given his contribution already this season, a rare day off can be excused, but if they begin to become a regular occurrence then the goals may dry up even more for the Foxes.
