Robbie Savage was blown away after Chris Sutton said Sean Dyche’s Everton are the first team to keep a clean sheet against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium this season.
Sutton had to deal with a disappointed Toffees fan on BBC Radio 5’s 606 despite Dyche and co holding the Gunners to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, 14 December.
In a bid to prove the supporter wrong about the manager, the pundit pointed out that Saturday was the first time Mikel Arteta’s side have failed to score at home across all competitions this term.
“Your team has a positive result today”, Sutton said.
“I think it’s the first time this season at the Emirates that Arsenal have blanked.”

Savage could not believe what he heard and simply said: “Oof, wow!”
Sutton, meanwhile, continued to make his point, hailing Dyche for delivering a “masterclass” against Arsenal.
He said: “Surely you have to say, ‘Well done, Sean Dyche! That’s a masterclass, well done, our manager, and if you keep our team in the Premier League this season, that is a huge achievement’, bearing in mind what he’s had to put up with.”
Sutton and Savage right about Dyche after Arsenal v Everton
It is easy to see why Everton fans have been frustrated with Dyche as the club sit just three points above the relegation zone after 16 games.
However, the 53-year-old deserves credit and not flak for the result against the Gunners as even the most ardent Toffees supporter would have expected the Merseyside-based club to return empty-handed from North London.
With games against top-five sides Chelsea, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest coming up between now and the end of December, it is important that the Goodison Park outfit pick up as many points as they can and the draw at the Emirates is a good start.
Everton buyer Dan Friedkin
Dan Friedkin will make some funds available for Sean Dyche in January
Meanwhile, The Friedkin Group have been given approval for their takeover of the club, meaning they could make some funds available for new signings in the January transfer window [TEAMtalk].
Dyche is well-placed to drag the Blues away from the drop zone if he is backed with some money in January.
In other Everton news, The Friedkin Group are lining up a “monster” £220million deal in Merseyside after getting takeover approval.
