Liverpool have given Chelsea the chance to close the gap at the top of the Premier League table to just two points.
Liverpool drew 2-2 with Chelsea‘s west London rivals Fulham at Anfield on Saturday, giving Enzo Maresca‘s men a huge opportunity when they take on Brentford later.
No one expected Chelsea to be in the title race this season, and Maresca continues to deny that they are.
However, the Blues look firmly in it, and it will be hard to argue that they are not if they manage to beat Brentford at Stamford Bridge.

Ellen White on title race
Former Manchester City and England forward Ellen White has been discussing the Premier League title race following Liverpool’s draw with Fulham.
Again, Chelsea can close the gap at the top of the table to two points, which is nothing, but White still thinks that the Reds are favourites to finish first.
Speaking on Final Score, she said: “I think at the moment being top they are the favourites. They’ve had some, I wouldn’t say horrendously disappointing results. Obviously, they’ve drawn a couple of games most recently and it’s a tight patch for them to see how they’re going to do.
MORE CHELSEA STORIES
“They’re still five points clear, but Chelsea have still got to play. They’ve got another game in hand as well.”
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has only had good things to say about Chelsea this season. Slot recently discussed Chelsea in a press conference, claiming that Maresca’s men were actually better than his side when the two English clubs faced each other at Anfield in October.
Liverpool won 2-1 on the day, with Curtis Jones scoring the winner for the home team.
Are Liverpool still favourites for the title ahead of Chelsea?
Liverpool are a very experienced team who have been here before. The likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson are seasoned professionals with so much quality.
It is not the same story for Chelsea, who are an extremely young side yet to compete for the Premier League crown.
Ultimately, then, you would still expect Liverpool to finish above this Chelsea squad and probably Arsenal and Manchester City as well. A City win against Manchester United later, though, will make things much more interesting.
