Am I wearing black and white tinted glasses or would a Bruno Guimaraes red card have been very…

Newcastle United destroyed Leicester City at St James' Park on Saturday afternoon coming away with a 4-0 victory, a scoreline which in truth, should have been way higher.

Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy were both guilty of spurning wonderful chances throughout the match and there were other opportunities that, were the team more confident, would have found the back of the net.

However, the aim of the game was to win and play well and the lads certainly did that with Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali finally seemingly starting to click with Tonali in the number six role and Bruno as a number eight.

Bruno found himself in some good positions and bagged his first goal of the season for his efforts, however, there are those who believe that the Brazilian was lucky to still be on the pitch in the second half.

Leicester City fans were wondering where the cards were for Bruno Guimaraes

Unsurprisingly, one of those people was Leicester City fan and Match of the Day host, Gary Lineker who believes Bruno was fortunate not to be booked for a dive when trying to win his side a penalty, and then even luckier not to see a straight red for the challenge on Hamza Choudhury that saw him get booked.

The dive, while it he was definitely looking for the contact, wasn't so egregious as to deserve a card, there was contact, but it wasn't enough for a penalty. The ref made the right call.

Meanwhile, the challenge on Choudhury for which some were begging for a red card would have been insanity. It was mistimed and a tad high, there's no denying that, but it was the result of a genuine action to play the ball - it was as clear coming together.

Gary Lineker said Bruno Guimaraes was very lucky

I couldn't believe what I was hearing when Gary Lineker was trying to suggest it was a red card. Granted, it was partially tongue-in-cheek and also very likely done to wind up his mate, Alan Shearer, “Leicester were dreadful, no excuses but Bruno Guimaraes was lucky to stay on the pitch. Maybe then it would have been just 2-0 or 3-0.”, said Lineker, but there were genuine calls for red cards from elsewhere. Even Sky Sports have been asking the question.

I try so hard to remove bias when looking at incidents because I feel that nothing makes someone look more daft than letting their bias overrule common sense, but I just can't see the horrific offence that others are seeing here.

Is it just me?
