Chelsea Foundation and Jimmy Aggrey Foundation team up to build futures through football

Ahead of welcoming our former player to Stamford Bridge today, a new link-up is announced…

Chelsea Foundation is embarking on a partnership with the Jimmy Aggrey Foundation (JAF), the aim being to build futures through football for young people.

The work of the JAF will be showcased at today’s Premier League game against Brentford when Aggrey will be interviewed at half-time - and the fixture is appropriate. He was raised in the shadow of Brentford’s then home ground of Griffin Park and signed as a schoolboy player for Chelsea, going on to play in our youth and reserve team sides in the mid-1990s.

Aggrey, a defender, forged a professional career most notably at Torquay United and TNS in Wales.

Now he has embarked on the latest chapter in his work with the JAF which is guided by what he describes as his five Fs - Family. Food. Friends. Football. Future.

‘As founder and CEO of The Jimmy Aggrey Foundation, I’m excited by the partnership between the Chelsea Foundation and JAF,’ he says.

Laura Cordingley, CEO of Chelsea FC Foundation underlined the importance of the partnership: ‘We are excited to partner with the Jimmy Aggrey Foundation and support its vital work in building futures for children in the UK and Africa. We are looking forward to working with Jimmy and his board to ensure we deliver maximum impact for those children most in need through this partnership.’

Chelsea Foundation will work with the JAF to support its mission of building futures. Initiatives will soon be underway in the UK and Africa. Football kit and bibs are to be distributed in economically challenged communities in South Africa, where there will also be funding for projects introducing educational and social opportunities.
