Eddie Howe has hailed Sandro Tonali for giving Newcastle United 'a really good outlook' after the Italy international made the number six position his own.
A report in Italy, which was dismissed by [Tonali's](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/all-about/sandro-tonali) camp, suggested that the 24-year-old was 'tired of this situation' at [Newcastle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/all-about/newcastle-united-fc) earlier this week. The article even claimed that Tonali feels like he is 'passing through'.
However, Tonali did not look like he wanted to be anywhere else during Newcastle's 4-0 win against Leicester City at St James' Park on Saturday. On the contrary. The usually reserved Tonali even turned to the Gallowgate End and wildly shook his fists in celebration after Jacob Murphy opened the scoring in the first half.
Tonali had a hand in the goal, following a clever corner kick routine, and the Italy international's name was repeatedly sung by Newcastle supporters - just a few days after agent Giuseppe Riso praised their support. Tonali called it a 'perfect day at the office' in a 'buzzing stadium' as the midfielder, tellingly, completed just his second full 90 minutes in a Newcastle shirt.
"He was very good," Howe told reporters. "He obviously plays the number six position very differently to Bruno, but is equally as effective.
"You have got two different ways of playing the position, but both are very good in different ways. He covered the ground really well. His athletic performance was very good and he's just very intelligent with the ball.
"He makes good decisions. He definitely has come into the team in that position and given us a really good outlook. I'm excited by how the midfield three is looking."
