Wolves Boss O'Neil Sacked
Sunday, 15th Dec 2024 11:43
Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has been sacked following the Blues’ 2-1 victory at Molineux yesterday.
O’Neil, 41, took charge of the Old Gold ahead of 2023/24 and led them to 14th in the Premier League.
However, having signed a new four-year deal in August, this season has been something of a disaster and the loss to the Blues was Wanderers’ fourth on the bounce with discipline within his squad also seemingly having broken down, his players having become involved in melees following yesterday’s game and the defeat at West Ham on Monday.
O’Neil pointed fingers towards his players for yesterday’s defeat [in his post-match press conference last night](https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/48540/oneil-that-group-was-close-to-its-maximum-today) having kept reporters waiting for more than an hour after the final whistle.
The sacking had been widely expected with many anticipating his firing earlier in the week after the loss to the Hammers.
One-time Norwich City midfielder O’Neil, who was previously in charge of AFC Bournemouth, leaves Wolves 19th in the table, three points behind the Blues and four off safety.
