Barcelona youngster’s injury comeback postponed until Atletico Madrid clash

It has been just over a month since Ansu Fati was declared injured with a biceps femoris setback. Word had it that he would face around 30 days on the sidelines and he was expected to return in time to face Leganes later today.

His recovery has been satisfactory overall but the player is still not at 100% and will thus be unavailable to play at Montjuic against Leganes. His return, however, is just around the corner.

Return vs Atletico?

As relayed by SPORT, the player is on the cusp of a complete return but the club unsurprisingly prefer to err on the side of caution.

They will be very careful with the young forward and not rush him back into action. Everything indicates that he may make his long-awaited return against Atletico Madrid.

Given the weight of the clash and the fact that he is just returning from injury, he may well appear for the club only after the Christmas break for all practical purposes.

So far this season, the 22-year-old has only made four appearances for Barcelona in La Liga and has accumulated a total of 129 minutes in the competition. In that duration, he has yet to contribute directly to a goal.

With the schedule only getting more hectic by the week, however, there will be more rotations in the final third and Ansu is expected to feature more often.

After all, he is a strong candidate to play on the left flank in place of Raphinha who has been largely overworked all season.
