The search is on for a new Wolves manager, with Gary O’Neil being sacked.
Gary O’Neil has been sacked after a 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town at Molineux proved to be the final straw.
O’Neil leaves Wolves having won just two of the club’s 16 Premier League games so far this season, but many Wolves fans feel this decision has come too late in terms of survival.
The inquest has been ongoing for weeks as to why O’Neil struggled at Wolves, but the talk will now turn to potential replacements.
It was recently reported Carlos Corberan could be an option to replace O’Neil.
But there is another Championship manager who is now being linked.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Wolves could well turn to the Championship now as they seek to replace O’Neil.
He says that Corberan is an option, and also shares how much he would cost in terms of compensation to West Bromwich Albion.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
But Blackburn Rovers manager John Eustace has also emerged as an option.
He said: “O’Neil was informed this morning with the decision coming just three days after public backing from Jeff Shi.
“Wolves had previously sounded out Graham Potter and David Moyes, but neither indicated they wanted the job mid-season. Carlos Corberan has £4m compensation but has remained loyal to date to West Brom. John Eustace another name in the frame.”
Eustace has been at the helm at Ewood Park since February 2024, and has previously had spells with Birmingham City, Queen’s Park Rangers and Kidderminster Harriers.
Blackburn are currently flying high in fifth place in the Championship table, with Eustace having an overall record of 39 games managed, with 15 wins, 12 draws and 12 defeats.
Wolves’ new manager is massively up against it
It remains to be seen who Fosun will plump for as the new manager of Wolves, but whoever it is is walking into a seriously tough job.
O’Neil deserved to be sacked after overseeing too many poor results and showing little to no evidence he could turn things around.
But managers will also end up struggling under this ownership.
Fosun did some fantastic work in the early years of their stewardship, but in recent times the owners have neglected Wolves and it’s to the point now where the club’s Premier League status is under severe threat.
Simply put, whoever comes in will be massively up against it.
