Chelsea have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Joao Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion. The young Brazilian will cost a premium for any of the interested parties due to his high quality and experience in Premier League.
Chelsea are keen to improve their attack despite having a very good squad depth. Some exisiting stars like Mykhailo Mudryk are set to leave the club and this may open up space. The Blues will target young players who will fit in their newly adapted strategy.
On the other hand, Liverpool are preparing for a future without Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is in final year of his contract and as of now there is nothing reported regarding the new contract. In addition, Arne Slot will like to add more depth and quality in final third.
Chelsea join Liverpool in the pursuit of Joao Pedro
The Blues have joined the Reds in the race to sign Brighton talent Joao Pedro. The 23 year old has impressed very much since joining the Seagulls last season. The Brazilian has so far scored 24 goals and picked 6 assists in 49 matches for Brighton.
According to TBR Football, Brighton are unwilling to sell Pedro and will only do so if they receive a premium fee. As per the report, he will cost around £100 million which may make it hard for any of his suitors.
As of now Liverpool are leading the race but they may hesitate to spend such a big amount if they agree a new contract with Salah. This may then give Chelsea lead who are never shy to make big moves.
Last year, Chelsea and Liverpool were involved in race to sign another Brighton talent. The Reds had lead in race of Moises Caicedo who later joined Chelsea for a British record fee of £115 million.
