'I'm pleased': Eddie Howe is not getting carried away despite fantastic NUFC win against…

Eddie Howe is keeping his feet on the ground despite a monumental St James' Park performance by Newcastle United on Saturday as they put Leicester City to the sword with a 4-0 win.

Alan Shearer said that Newcastle 'dominated' against The Foxes and we can't think of a better word to describe the performance.

It was the type of display that Newcastle have reserved solely for the "big" teams this season in between poor showings against "lesser" sides.

The game hinted at a change in attitude by the players who have been accused of only turning up for big games, but Eddie Howe isn't letting one win sweep him away.

Speaking after the game (via The Northern Echo), Eddie Howe was quick to highlight his side's inconsistency as a big reason why he's not getting carried away.

"If you look at Liverpool and today you'd think Newcastle are in a really good place.

"The problem was we had Brentford in between.

"I'm pleased but I'm not high in a sense of getting carried away,"

One down two to go in huge week for Newcastle

It has been said many times that this is a huge week for Newcastle with Leicester, Brentford and Ipswich in the space of seven days. All are games Newcastle would be expected to win, and are now one down with two to go.

Losing any of these games could bring about that big cloud of despair again, but you'd imagine that being knocked out of the cup on Wednesday would arguably be the most disastrous.

Newcastle owe Brentford a battering and hopefully, yesterday's display and that desire to get one over the Bees will be enough to drive us on to victory on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Ipswich stole three points against Wolves yesterday so will be on a high going into the game at Portman Road on Saturday.

It's going to be an intense week. Buckle up!
