Evangelos Marinakis is unlikely to be sanctioned by the FA after an image of a smashed-up TV screen emerged after Nottingham Forest beat Aston Villa on Saturday.

Football broadcaster Jamie Martin took to X after Forest’s dramatic 2-1 win at the City Ground to share a picture of a television that’s seen better days.

According to Martin, the screen is the one Marinakis watches during Forest’s home games.

Former FIFA and Premier League referee Hackett claims that in order for anyone to take action against Marinakis, there’ll have to be proof of the Nottingham Forest owner breaching any rules.

As a result, the ex-PGMOL general manager doesn’t believe anything further will happen.

“I suggest that it is unlikely any action will be taken,” Hackett told Villa News.

“Proof of what happened [will be needed].

“The owner is a very passionate individual for sure.”

Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa filled with controversy

Forest’s win over Villa was one that will have people talking for a few days.

Chris Wood saw a goal disallowed due to a thread on Anthony Elanga’s sleeve being offside – which is likely to have been the cause of the damaged television at the City Ground – while both sides wanted penalties.

Morgan Rogers probably should have won a penalty after being pulled down while running towards the Forest goal.

Unai Emery’s men have struggled in the Premier League lately and controversial moments like that one won’t help.

The Villans have won just two of their last eight games in the league but are still in sixth place thanks to back-to-back wins over Brentford and Southampton before their loss in the East Midlands.

Next up is a home clash with Manchester City on Saturday (21 December) before a tricky trip to Newcastle on Boxing Day and a home clash with Brighton (30 January) to round off the year.
