West Ham’s January Clearout: Who’s on the Chopping Block?

Claret & Hugh have been informed by a top source at West Ham that the club are in a sell-to-buy situation, meaning players will have to leave before any arrive this January.

Unfortunately, the Hammers do not have much wriggle room in the squad without selling a big star. So, who are the realistic options the club could look to move on in next month’s transfer window?

Guido Rodriguez: The Argentine believes he should play every week, but his lack of mobility is a hindrance. Signed on a free transfer, the club would want to recoup around £2m to cover agent and signing fees. Rodriguez remains keen on a move to Real Betis.

Danny Ings: Offered an escape to Southampton in the summer but rejected it. Ings remains on high wages, and his chances of starting games haven’t improved, even with Antonio injured. This could be the last chance to secure a nominal fee for the striker.

Luis Guilherme: Hard to see anyone paying money for the £20m 18-year-old, who seems surplus to requirements. A loan deal could benefit all parties.

Vladimir Coufal: Out of contract at the end of the season, with Galatasaray still interested. Could fetch a nominal fee in January.

Mohammed Kudus: A summer departure is more likely, but recent reports suggest Arsenal could test West Ham’s resolve with a lower £75m offer next month.

Edson Alvarez: Possibly the surprise pick, Alvarez wants to play European football. However, hopes of securing a £60m bid for the volatile Mexican are long gone.

Niclas Füllkrug: While reports of homesickness have quietened, Bundesliga clubs may still test both the player’s and the club’s resolve to remain at the London Stadium
