Harvey Elliott has admitted that he has had to be patient at Liverpool this season. The England Under-21s international enjoyed a strong finish to Jurgen Klopp’s final campaign at the club and caught the eye in pre-season under Arne Slot.
However, he fractured his foot during the September international break, and only made his injury comeback at the start of December in the Reds’ 2-0 victory over Man City.
The midfielder caught the eye against his former club Fulham on Saturday after being introduced in the 79th minute, and helped Slot’s side come from behind to earn a late 2-2 draw despite having had to play with 10 men since the 17th minute.

Fellow substitutes Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez combined to deliver the equaliser, with the trio now all in contention to start in Wednesday’s League Cup quarter-final clash away at Southampton if Slot opts to rotate his side.
If selected from the off against the Saints, Elliott would be making his first start of the season. And, well-aware just how important Saturday’s point against Fulham could prove to be at the end of the season when it comes to the Premier League title race, the midfielder has stressed the importance of Liverpool’s entire squad continuing to step up and play their part.
“It's just about waiting for your time,” he told LFC TV. “We're a squad, we're a team. Some games you might not be needed and (others), for example like today, players are needed.
“Like Jots, just come back from injury and he got the equaliser. We all have to be ready, we all have to be prepared to come on and impact the game, impact the team. We're all together as one, we're a squad and we're going to need everyone.
“Coming from behind to get the draw, as much as we want the win, I think we should be proud of ourselves.
“We could have won it as well but a draw is better than a loss, even though we wanted three points. If we want to go far this season, this is what we need to do.
“When times are tough, we need to show as a team and as a club that we're going to fight for everything and I think today was a prime example of that.
“It's another point on the board. We have to keep pushing and keep going. Who knows, at the end of the season it might be vital.”
Slot had namechecked Elliott following the draw with Fulham, praising the midfielder and his fellow substitutes for the impact they made after entering the field of play in helping Liverpool earn a share of the spoils.
