The player in question here is Rayan Cherki who has been superb for Lyon. The 21 year old has 5 goals and 6 assists in 15 games so far this season. His progress since becoming first team player has been very impressive.

Cherki has been first team player since 2019/20 season when he made his senior debut at just 16 years of age. He later became the clubs youngster ever goalscorer when he was just 16 years and 140 days old.

Cherki was recently asked about his linking with Premier League clubs. He refused to rule out the rumors which may come as a huge boost for English clubs. In contrast, he also refused to provide clear answer leaving everyone in confusion.

“We will see at the end of the season if I’m still here or not” – Cherki after their victory against Frankfurt in Europa League.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal keen to sign Rayan Cherki

As per CaughtOffside, many of the English clubs are keen to sign the 21 year old. As of now Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are believed to be frontrunners but are also joined by Newcastle, West Ham and Crystal Palace.

Chelsea already have a huge squad but are known for signing young players. Gunners and Reds do need improvement but due to different reasons. Arsenal are not looking very good while attacking whereas Liverpool will need to replace Salah who is in final year of current contract.

Lyon rate Cherki very highly and would have loved to keep him at the club. But, the 21 year old has only extended his contract by 1 year this summer. His current contract will expire in 2026 and hence the French side may be open to sell him next year.

In addition, Lyon need to get thei financial books correct before the end of the season otherwise they will be handed a relegation to Ligue 2. This suggests that they might even consider selling Cherki in January itself to raise funds and keep their spot in French top-flight league.
