The Blues have done really well this season under Enzo Maresca. Their only concern has been defence and poor goalkeeping. Chelsea are now linked with Borussia Dortmund keeper Gregor Kobel in order to turn things around between the sticks.
Chelsea are really improved to a vast extent under Maresca. No one really believed that they would be in such a good state due to many changes in summer. But, the Blues are now sitting second in the Premier League whereas are table toppers in the Conference League.
One of the negative points for the Blues has been their defence. They have been unable to keep clean sheets and have conceded many goals. There are rumours about Chelsea changing their main keeper next year and looking at the current state it is what’s required.
Chelsea linked with Gregor Kobel of Borussia Dortmund
As per Sky Germany, the Blues have added Dortmund keeper to their wishlist. Kobel has been first choice keeper for Dortmund since last 4 seasons. He has done a really great job for the German club and lead them to UCL final last season.
As of now, Kobel will surely be an upgrade on Robert Sanchez. The Spaniard has failed to impress and Chelsea fans too have expressed disappointment in him. It looks like we may see a new keeper next year but not so soon in January.
Enzo Maresca has backed Sanchez and said there will be no big incomings in January. This means that the Spaniard may be backed until the end of the season. In January, we may still see some moves from Chelsea to improve their defence.
There will be more outgoings than incomings next year. Many of the Chelsea stars have their days numbered at West London. Some may be sent on loan and the club may monitor their progress for little longer before moving on from them.
Live Updates
Chelsea have ended their pursuit of Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi. The Blues feel like they have enough depth in that position and hence have taken the decision. It seems like good move by the Blues as their priority needs to be improving the backline.
