Chelsea would need to agree to pay a percentage of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka's wages if they are to leave on loan in January. The pair have been on the fringes of Enzo Maresca's side as they have been reduced to appearances in cup competitions such as the UEFA Conference League.
According to the Mirror, the Blues are willing to listen to offers for the duo next month when the transfer window reopens. However, their hopes of culling the squad could be impacted due to their reported wages.
It has been claimed that the high wages of Dewsbury-Hall and Chukwuemeka could be problematic to interested parties - forcing Chelsea to pay a percentage as part of a deal to see them leave on a temporary basis.
The former Leicester City star followed Maresca to the capital for £30million in the summer and it has been claimed that the Foxes are plotting a possible return for the 26-year-old. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are reportedly long-term admirers of the former Aston Villa talent, Chukwuemeka.
"I’m very happy with Kiernan," Maresca said, discussing Dewsbury-Hall in September. "We need to understand that Kiernan was the main player at Leicester.
“He arrived here now and he’s not the main player, now he’s one of the players. For him, and any player in the world, you need to adapt mentally.
"You go from: ‘Okay, I’m the main player here’ to being one of the players. That period requires a bit of time where you understand that and adapt that."
And the Italian confessed that there were discussions about a possible departure for the 21-year-old attacker in the summer but a move didn't materialise. He said previously: "I will say exactly the same thing I have said many times, Carney is a very good player, but for the amount of players we have, we decided at the beginning of the season it is probably better to leave and go somewhere, prove himself and playing 30 or 35 games than being here and play less games.
"Unfortunately that didn't happen. He is our player. He had some minutes the other day, today he was not involved. Hopefully, we can give him more minutes."
